We are dedicated to providing you with the best entertainment experience possible and at the same time protecting your privacy to the fullest extent possible. This explanation of our privacy policy applies only to the DVD Media Player software; it does not apply to any other Company products or services including Company sites (online or offline). Other Company products and services have their own privacy policies which can be found on the particular site or found within the particular product.

Collection and Use of Registration Information

When you download the DVD Media Player for the first time, you will be asked to register and provide us with the following demographic information: age range, gender, state, and zip code. This totally anonymous information will be used by the Company to better understand who our users are so that we are better able to serve you and provide relevant products and services. We will also ask for your e-mail address. Your e-mail address is the only personally identifiable information that we collect [NOTE: we do not collect personally identifiable information (e-mail addresses or otherwise) from anyone who identifies themselves as 0 – 13 during registration; the e-mail form will automatically be disabled]. The e-mail addresses collected will not be sold or otherwise transferred to any third party. We request your e-mail address so that we can communicate with you to provide effective customer service, critical update alerts, information about new services, and other information requested by you. We do reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us.

What Information Does the DVD Media Player Automatically Send Across the Internet?

The DVD Media Player sends anonymous information over the Internet that allows us to better understand how our products and services are used so we can continually improve them and provide you with a fun and personalized entertainment experience. The following sections describe the information that is automatically transmitted to our servers and how it is used.

A. Demographic information: age range, gender, state and zip code. This demographic information is requested and gathered through the DVD Media Player during initial install and can only be read by the our servers.

B. Disc and System Software Information: anonymous information pertaining to the discs played and the version of software residing on your system and does not include any personally identifiable information. This type of information makes it possible for us and the distributor of the disc to make updates available for the specific software version you are running and the disc you are actually playing. This disc and software information is only gathered while using the DVD Media Player and once an online connection is detected will be anonymously transferred to our servers. Because the information received is critical to ensure proper updating of both disc content as well as software version, this function can not be “turned off.”

C. Disc Use Information: anonymous information about the use of specific discs played through the DVD Media Player and does not include any personally identifiable information. This information is gathered through the DVD Media Player when a disc is in use and is stored on your hard drive. Once an online connection is detected, this disc use information is anonymously transferred to our servers. If you do not want this anonymous information to pass to our servers you can “turn off” this function by going to the Player Configuration Dialog found on the Player control panel.

D. User ID: this information is an alphanumeric identity for each unique installation of the DVD Media Player and is not connected to any personally identifiable information.

E. IP Address: this information is a number that identifies your computer on the network so you can receive the information (i.e, content/web pages/features, etc.) you seek. The IP Address is automatically gathered by the our servers.

The anonymous information described in A, B, C and D above can be used to better understand our users’ habits and interests, which will allow us and the disc distributors to provide more relevant, interesting and entertaining content. In that regard, this anonymous information will be used by us for marketing and promotions, collective statistical analysis, disc and content performance purposes and possible commercial exploitation, and may be offered to third parties for the same purposes.

The DVD Media Player does not use Cookies, however some of the websites visited from third party content providers accessed through the DVD Media Player, may contain Cookies. Please review their Privacy Policy in regards to Cookies.

Can I see the Information about my use and collected from My Computer System?

No, because there is no personally identifiable information collected so there is no way to determine what information is actually related to you or your system.

How Does the DVD Media Player Detect an Internet Connection?

The DVD Media Player automatically attempts to detect Internet connectivity by making an API call from the Microsoft Windows ® Operating System.

Links to Other Sites

From time to time the DVD Media Player may include links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by us. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites and we encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

Changes to this Statement

If we decide to make changes to our privacy policy we will attempt to alert you directly on the updated policy statement, through postings on our web site and in some cases via e-mail notification. Because we are constantly trying to preserve and protect your privacy we encourage you to periodically review this privacy policy.
